Amesbury Farmers’ Market Fun

We had a great time at the Amesbury Farmers’ Market on Wednesday. The weather cooperated, and there was a nice crowd. The Market partnered with Barewolf Brewing to present the event, and it was a rousing success. We wish them the best if luck for the remainder of the season, and we hope to make a return appearance or two in the not so distant future.

Here are a couple of photos from the day, courtesy of Laura Kozlowski.

Back to Wilmot!

Here we are setting up for the Wilmot NH Farmers Market in 2019.

Our summer schedule is filling fast!   Speed the Plough is very happy to announce that we will be returning, rain or shine, to the Wilmot (NH) Farmer’s Market on Saturday July 23rd, 2022.   The town gazebo is an idyllic center for this market bringing you locally sourced farm goods from 9 am to noon each Saturday from June to September in the Kearsarge Valley.  Check our Gigs frequently for our updated schedule.

A Wonderful Evening in Goffstown

It was a Halloween treat to return to Goffstown, where it all began for Speed the Plough. We hope it will turn into an annual event.

Speed the Plough provided our community with a smashing evening of macabre musicality. As promised, the trio’s tunes took the candy corn out of Halloween and returned the holiday to its roots in the ghosts and gore of yore. Their concert was well attended, and greatly enjoyed by all.
It was a pleasure working with you!!!

Halloween Comes Early to Goffstown!

This Halloween season come hear stories drawn from our folk music archive.

  • Bone, hair and sinew washed up at a waters’ edge made into a haunted musical instrument.
  • A true account of an Amesbury woman accused of dealing in black arts in Salem MA in 1692.
  • A pale version of an Irish sailor lost at sea for 7 years visits his love for one final night.

No costumes or candy corn, just musical tales of the supernatural:  witches and ghosts and enough murder to fill a graveyard.

Did we mention it is free and that we will be performing in a building listed in the book “Haunted New Hampshire?”

New Venue- Cider Hill Farm, Amesbury

We are very excited to announce we will be performing at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, MA, on Sat. Oct. 16 and Sat. Oct. 23 from noon to 3 pm on both days.

Cider Hill was recently voted as the best place to pick apples in America! And they also do a great job presenting and supporting live music. Our friends Rockwood/Taylor have performed there as well as many other fine groups.

So drop in for a listen. Hopefully we’ll have perfect fall New England weather.

Dates & Changes

We had a great time performing at the Salem, MA, Farmers’ Market this past Thursday. It was a gorgeous day, a great venue, and a very good audience. It was our first time playing there, and we hope there are many more.

Looking ahead, we will be at Spring Hill Farm in Chester, NH, on Sept. 25 from 1-4 pm. Our Halloween gig on Oc.t 12 has been moved from the Goffstown Public Library to the Parker Bldg. of the Goffstown Historical Society. And we’ve added a Christmas show at the Merrimac, MA, Public Library on Dec. 4. And we finish out the year on Dec. 11 at the Newburyport Brewing Company, our first bar gig in years! Check out our Gigs page for details.
